The Southern Rock hall of fame is peppered with some of the finest voices in the music business; Ronnie Van Zant and Gregg Allman being two fine examples. Equally as impressive was the immediate and identifiable rasp of Danny Joe Brown, erstwhile vocalist for Jacksonville based multi platinum rockers Molly Hatchet. Helmed by DJB, Hatchet rocketed to success and then, just as they looked like consolidating their burgeoning superstar status, Danny quit. Opting to call the shots on his own he immediately set about forming the Danny Joe Brown Band, which like Hatchet featuring a three guitar army including child hood friend Bobby Ingram. Snapped up by Epic Records, the band were seconded in the world famous Compass Point studios in Nassau with veteran English producer Glynn Johns (Faces, Who, Eagles, Rolling Stones etc) recording their debut album. The 'DJB' album is about as good a Southern Rock record as you will ever hear. With impassioned vocals and copious lead guitar playing the songs are superior examples of a much maligned and now sadly defunct genre. Indeed, it is generally regarded as housing at least two of the movement's greatest signature tracks; 'The Alamo' and 'Edge Of Sundown', the latter showcasing an extended guitar showdown in the finest Southern Rock tradition. Danny Joe would, before his untimely death in 2005, later return to front Hatchet but despite a fine body of work with the mother ship his solo album is still regarded as arguably his greatest achievement. This is a Special Collector's Edition that has been remastered using sound shaped from 24 bit digital technology by Jon Astley (the Who, Judas Priest, Eric Clapton etc). It is packaged with a 16 page full colour booklet using original and enhanced artwork and new photos and include a 4,000 Word essay.
