Classic blues-based hard rock produced by Andy Johns (Free, Cinderella, Chickenfoot). 16 page full colour booklet, 3,500 word essay, enhanced artwork, photos and new interviews. At the very end of the 1980s matters musical were about to be irrevocably challenged and changed. A prevailing wind from the Pacific North West was gathering momentum and looking to sweep out the old and usher in the new. Blues based hard rock was very much being positioned as a dated commodity, despite its massive popularity with fans of Whitesnake, Led Zeppelin and ZZ Top. For Tangier, the future may have looked bright on the inside but, as with so many others of their ilk, the timing of their launch was badly misjudged. Tangier were originally formed in Philadelphia in 1984, being very much a muscular five piece, unashamedly rooted in the grand tradition of early 70s British blues rock, with influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to Free and Bad Company. Vocalist Bill Mattson's voice is cut from the same cloth as masters of the craft such as Paul Rodgers, David Coverdale and Frankie Miller. The production, courtesy of British studio wizard Andy Johns, forms a meticulous cradle for the delivery of some of the best melodic hard rock this side of a Cinderella album. Indeed, it was Cinderella's leader Tom Keifer who originally referred the band to contacts at the newly reactivated Atlantic Records sister label ATCO, identifying them as one of the finest unsigned outfits operating on the East Coast. Released in 1989, the album contains a sparkling selection of 24-Karat hard rock classics including 'Ripchord', 'Mississippi', 'In Time' and the epic 'Southbound Train'."
